AMI Names Sanjoy Maity CEO

AMI in the News

NORCROSS, GA – AMI, the world’s leading provider of BIOS and UEFI firmware and out-of-band server management solutions, today announced that Subramonian Shankar, CEO and President since 1985, will transition to Chairman of the Board of Directors as Sanjoy Maity assumes the role of CEO. Maity has held a variety of leadership roles at AMI over the past 28 years, most recently serving as Vice President of the rapidly growing MegaRAC® business.

“AMI reported record revenues for both the BIOS and MegaRAC business units last year, and 2019 has been off to a roaring start; this is the perfect time to hand over the reins to Sanjoy,” said Shankar as he described the succession process underway at AMI. “Sanjoy is in many ways the ideal candidate for this position. Sanjoy has an engineering background with many patents to his credit and will ensure that AMI continues to emphasize technology and innovation. When he first joined AMI about 28 years ago, Sanjoy spent time as a BIOS developer. He joined the MegaRAC group upon its inception in 1998 to handle firmware development for AMI’s very first MegaRAC product. Since, he has also led sales efforts for this group, giving him a clear understanding of AMI customers and partners. Having grown with AMI, Sanjoy ensures the continuity and stability in product direction and strategy that AMI customers and employees have come to expect from AMI.”

“I am humbled and excited by this tremendous opportunity to lead AMI,” Maity said. “I have spent many years learning from Shankar and am committed to exceeding the high bar he has set. With the incredible team we’ve assembled, AMI is well-positioned to extend its industry leadership during what we believe will be a time of rapid expansion. We are also very fortunate to have the right partner in HGGC to help us capitalize on the numerous growth opportunities that lie ahead of us.”

From its offices in seven countries, AMI provides its customers with unrivaled firmware solutions. AMI’s industry-leading capabilities and customer support have allowed the company to sustain strong, long-term relationships with key players across the computing ecosystem, including chip makers, hyperscale cloud service providers, ODMs and OEMs, as well as telecommunications providers.

“AMI’s strong leadership was an important factor in our decision to invest in the business, and we’re excited to collaborate with Sanjoy going forward,” said Bill Conrad, Member of the AMI Board of Directors and Principal at HGGC. “We’re confident that Sanjoy’s transition to CEO will be seamless for the company and its customers, and we are thrilled Shankar wanted to remain involved with the future success of AMI as a meaningful shareholder and as its Chairman.”

Prior to joining AMI, Maity was a software engineer at Micronics Corp and MegaDesigns. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science & Technology from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.
