AMI Adds Support for Aptio V in Lauterbach TRACE32 JTAG Debugging Tool

AMI in the News

NORCROSS, GEORGIA: – AMI, a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is proud to announce Aptio® V UEFI BIOS firmware support in Lauterbach TRACE32® JTAG debugger tool, expanding UEFI debugging options on AMI products.

Lauterbach is recognized as the world’s largest manufacturer of hardware debug tools with more than 35 years of experience producing high-quality debug and emulator solutions. Lauterbach’s flagship TRACE32® product line includes the JTAG debugger, a hardware based debugging tool. The JTAG debugger tool is a comprehensive software debugger that allows users to start debugging at any platform phase, whether it is from the reset vector phase or the OS applications phase. The JTAG debugger tool supports both Intel® Atom™/x86 and ARM® Cortex®-A processors.

AMI, as the leading producer of UEFI/BIOS firmware solutions, provides software-based debugging for Aptio V through AMI Debug™ for UEFI via USB3/USB2 Debug Port and serial ports. AMI Debug™ for UEFI offers developers source-level debugging without the need for an in-circuit emulator (ICE).

AMI recently worked alongside Lauterbach to provide Aptio V UEFI support for Lauterbach’s JTAG debugger tool. By adding support for the JTAG debugger tool, AMI and Lauterbach are addressing the needs of AMI’s Aptio V and Lauterbach’s JTAG debugger tool customers who are using the UEFI firmware and debugger tool in conjunction with one another. Customers with AMI Aptio V now have a choice of using AMI’s Software debugging solution AMI Debug™ for UEFI or Lauterbach’s hardware debugger JTAG tool for their firmware debugging to identify problems that the system encounters in various phases of booting. The added support for Aptio V to the JTAG debugger tool bridges gaps between the two technologies and mutual customers can benefit from the support.

“As a leader in the computer technology industry, AMI is committed to providing its customers the means to advance and develop their technological solutions,” commented Subramonian Shankar, President and CEO of AMI. “The collaboration between AMI and Lauterbach shows the dedication from both companies to provide its mutual customers innovative and up-to-date solutions – in particular, the ability to easily debug their solutions with a convenient tool with no ‘debug gaps’. AMI is pleased to have had the opportunity to work alongside Lauterbach to add Aptio V support for the JTAG debugger tool and is excited to see the developments Lauterbach have in store for its company and product lines.”

“Working alongside AMI on this collaboration has allowed us to expand the support for our JTAG debugger tool,” said Stephan Lauterbach, CEO of Lauterbach GmbH. “We are proud to be able to provide debugging solutions to platforms running Aptio V BIOS from AMI. This gives our customers extra added value, as they can use TRACE32 to debug every single aspect of the boot phase and beyond. Thanks to the close cooperation we have with AMI, we can ensure up-to-date and verified debug solutions for AMI’s Aptio V.” he continued.
