NORCROSS, GEORGIA: – AMI, a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is proud to announce the addition of generic isochronous interrupt support for USB in Aptio V.
USB isochronous transfers require timely coordination for time-sensitive information, such as audio or video streaming. USB isochronous transfers are continuous where the data being delivered must be received at the same time in order to make sure timing coordination is simultaneous. With the timely delivery of isochronous data, comes the potential of lost transmissions within the stream of data. However, these losses are usually very minimal and the stream of data is not interrupted or delayed.
AMI is the first independent BIOS vendor to have support for USB isochronous transfers. With the addition of isochronous interrupt support for USB in Aptio V, customers can expect a steady transfer rate, maintaining a coordinated stream of data. The support enables sound, video and audio input and output. The added support allows OEMs and USB hardware vendors to write drivers and enables a new class of device support in UEFI.
