Redfish is an open industry-standard specification and schema designed to meet the expectations of end-users for simple and secure management of modern scalable platform hardware. It is grounded in modern technologies including a RESTful interface and utilizes JSON and OData to help customers integrate solutions within their existing tool chains. The ultimate goal of Redfish is to address all components in the data center with a consistent API, and an aggressive development schedule from the DMTF partner community is successfully making strides towards that end.
Version 1.5 of the Redfish specification brings a plethora of new and useful features such as AEP DIMM Inventory, out-of-band (OOB) AEP Management and Redfish 2018.1 compliance. Its OOB AEP Management capability now allows for BIOS side actions to create/delete goals and namespaces, along with new BMC side security actions. Redfish 2018.1 compliance includes expanded CPU Inventory information on cores and threads, expanded Memory Inventory metrics information and additional varieties of boot options such as a “boot next” attribute.
