NORCROSS, GA, USA - American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS, remote management and network data storage solutions, is pleased to introduce a new solution for its flagship Aptio® V UEFI Firmware that is compatible with the NIST SP 800-155 “BIOS Integrity Measurement Guidelines”.

In its Special Publication 800-155, NIST outlines the fundamentals of BIOS integrity measurement. This description includes a method to determine if the BIOS has been modified as well as the method for reporting and mitigating attacks against the BIOS.

"These guidelines describe what is needed to establish a chain of trust for the BIOS," commented Subramonian Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends. “In accordance with the NIST SP 800-155 guidelines, our Aptio V Firmware solution provides a means of generating and collecting the original BIOS measurements, called ‘the Golden Measurement Generation’, along with a means of storing the measurements that is either tamper-resistant or tamper-evident, called ‘the Collection Agent’ and a means of conveying the measurements to an analyzing agent, called the ‘Transmission and Reporting Agents’.”

“Our goal in developing a NIST SP 800-155 compatible solution for Aptio V was to demonstrate to our customers that AMI is deeply committed to developing the most secure and tamper-resistant UEFI solutions available in the market today,” he commented.

For more information about the NIST SP 800-155 guidelines and how they are incorporated in Aptio V UEFI Firmware from American Megatrends, please contact an AMI representative at 1-800-U-BUY-AMI / +1-770-246-8600.

  • National Mortgage Firm Relies on StorTrends to Easily Manage and Support its Tiered Storage Data Stores with Compelling Value and ROI

NORCROSS, GA: StorTrends® today announced that that its high performance storage area network (SAN) storage appliances have been implemented by First Option Mortgage to affordably support and manage the three-tier storage structure of its newly virtualized datacenter. Using StorTrends, First Option Mortgage has seen dramatic value across its Tier II and Tier III data stores, making its journey to datacenter virtualization seamless and efficient.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, First Option Mortgage has a national footprint with a growing family of more than 200 employees. With continued expansion, the mortgage firm’s IT team was experiencing the strain of its continued expansion. The company’s data center was completely physical just a few years ago, but with growth the team saw the need to virtualize. Today, First Option is almost fully virtual and has nearly 100 VMware® ESX servers serving its business applications.

This growing environment needed to better support its storage infrastructure. As a way to avoid overburdening its storage resources, the organization implemented three tiers of storage: Tier I is used to support its absolute mission-critical data which is accessed hourly and daily. Tier II storage is employed to manage frequently accessed, but non-priority data and Tier III storage is used to serve its backup and archiving processes.

When it came time for First Option to find a solution that would efficiently support its tiered data structure, they needed a system that was reliable and simple to use. It also needed to be VMware compatible and affordable. StorTrends SAN solutions became the number one choice.

The GUI of the StorTrends ManageTrends software caught the attention of Matt Berry, Vice President of IT for First Option Mortgage, “The StorTrends ManageTrends GUI is absolutely the best GUI I’ve seen. It’s ridiculously easy to use. That and StorTrends’ highly affordable pricing made it a compelling product for our Tier II and III needs.”

First Option is now using two StorTrends arrays with SATA drives to support Tier II and Tier III data, managing roughly 16 TBs of total capacity. “The StorTrends solutions at First Option have been a very good investment. The SANs do exactly as promised. For the money and ease of use, StorTrends is a real value,” added Barry.

“The StorTrends solutions are ideally suited for the tiered data management structures in today’s enterprises. They offer the high performance and reliability needed to robustly serve mission critical data, and the cost effectiveness to also deliver an exceptional ROI for Tier III applications,” said Justin Bagby, Director of the StorTrends Division at American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI). “For organizations such as First Option Mortgage, this means exceptional performance with the simplicity and management ease of a common solution.”

NORCROSS, GA, USA - The sweetness of Android™ Lollipop isn’t just for Android devices anymore. With the latest version of AMIDuOS™, users can enjoy the latest and great Android apps – right on their Windows® 7.x or 8.x devices.

AMIDuOS, which delivers a full Android experience to Windows desktops, laptops or tablets, is available now in Beta for download from for a $10 lifetime license – with a 30–day free trial. It was created by American Megatrends, Inc., the number one BIOS vendor in the world by shipment volume.

“People should be able to run their Android apps on any device they wish,” explained Subramonian Shankar, AMI founder and President. “We created AMIDuOS to make it easy for anyone to get the full Android experience on their Windows machines. Now, even the most recent Android apps developed for Android 5.0.1 will run smoothly and with full compatibility on the Windows platform.”

AMIDuOS has carefully tested thousands of Android apps to make sure users can enjoy apps requiring access to the Android 5.0.1 platform. AMIDuOS supports many improvements in Android Lollipop including compatibility with Android’s new ART runtime, native support for 64-bit apps and improved A/V sync and higher-performance graphics and audio.

Many Android apps are not available on the Windows 7/8 platform – such as Instagram, Tinder, WhatsApp, DuoLingo, Real Racing 3, Plants vs Zombies 2, Temple Run…the list goes on! Moreover, many Android apps are more expensive on Windows – for the identical app!

Further, consumers who already paid for their app on the Android platform are often required to pay a second time to purchase the same app for Windows. Finally, developers often update apps on Android before doing so for Windows, meaning that the only way to get the latest and greatest version or features is to use the Android version.

With AMIDuOS, compromise is a thing of the past. Now, users have access to the full library of Android apps on their Windows device – running either full-screen or in a window, while retaining the ability to switch over to their traditional Windows apps at any time – with no need to reboot. AMIDuOS is truly the best of both worlds.

How It Works

After installing AMIDuOS with a quick download from, users get a full Android experience on their Windows device. They can view and manipulate the Android desktop just as they do on their native Android devices and download apps from Google Play or Amazon App Store.

AMI has utilized its decades of expertise to build hardware acceleration support into the app, and support direct hardware access whenever possible. Emulation is only used when needed – otherwise code runs natively. This, plus 3D acceleration support, means incredible performance so games and video-intensive apps run smoothly and quickly.

Since AMIDuOS can access native PC hardware and drivers, apps can take advantage of the touchscreen, sensors, peripherals, GPS, camera and more to deliver a fully immersive Android experience. AMI has tested AMIDuOS with over 4,000 apps and is continually releasing updates to improve compatibility.

AMIDuOS integrates Android tightly into the Windows environment. The clipboard is shared, so users can copy from an Android app and paste into Windows, or vice versa. In addition, AMIDuOS can also be configured to share files with the Windows side, to save a file in Android and then open it directly within Windows, for example.

AMIDuOS runs best on a touch-screen enabled tablet, but is compatible with a keyboard and mouse setup as well. It also supports customizable keyboard mapping so users can assign physical keys to gestures such as swipe or pinch, for unsurpassed speed in games or other apps. In addition, gamepads are supported, so Android games can be enjoyed on a Windows system using gamepads designed for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and more.

The Press is Raving

Computerworld - "For anyone who wants a Windows tablet to do double-duty as an Android tablet, it's a no-brainer. It's well worth the price of two fancy cups of coffee."

ZDNET - “Switch between Windows and Android apps seamlessly without having to close what you're doing in one OS to get to the other"

BGR - “At just $10, the app is pretty affordable for a full-featured Android emulator."

Android Rundown - "if there was one app I would be happy to shell out significantly more than the asking price of $9.99 for, this is it."

SuperSite for Windows – “AMI has figured out how to successfully bring a full Android tablet experience to Windows, with no major drawbacks."

Lifehacker - "If you've ever wanted to install Android apps on Windows, you can with AMIDuOS."

Tom's Hardware - "Everything ran very fast and without any major problems...felt faster than any Android device. The fact that the software managed to run stable and fast really shows how much work has gone into it."

  • Historic City Transforms Interdepartmental Business Processes – Reduces Latency, Simplifies File Sharing, Increases Flexibility and Reduces Overall Storage Costs

NORCROSS, GA: StorTrends® today announced that that its high performance storage area network (SAN) storage appliances have been credited with “revolutionizing” the IT infrastructure of the City of Napoleon. Based 35 miles from Toledo, Ohio, and home to almost 9,000 residents, the City of Napoleon implemented the StorTrends SAN solution to help modernize its IT infrastructure while keeping costs down.

“Adding SAN to the City of Napoleon’s IT environment has completely transformed how business is done interdepartmentally,” said Dan Wachtman, MIS Administrator, City of Napoleon. “I would often lose sleep at night worrying about the data within the City of Napoleon’s IT environment. But now, I sleep comfortably knowing our data is fully protected thanks to the StorTrends SANs with their enterprise class snapshots and replication for disaster recovery.”

The IT department for the City of Napoleon is responsible for supporting the 19 departments that make up the city’s government infrastructure. Its combination Windows® and Linux® IT environment includes a myriad of physical servers from various vendors, as well as 25 HP and Citrix Virtual Servers, and Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Prior to deploying the StorTrends solution, the City of Napoleon outsourced most of its larger IT jobs. But as costs and demands continued to escalate, Wachtman, who has been involved in the city’s IT division for 15 years, recognized the need for a more efficient and cost-effective solution.

Some of the benefits that the city has experienced after making the transition to SAN include reduced latency, simplified file sharing, increased flexibility, easier storage deployment, and reduced overall storage costs. The City of Napoleon found that specific features of the StorTrends solution—such as snapshots and disaster recovery (DR)—were particularly helpful.

Wachtman added that the StorTrends support plan, StorAID, helped make the jump to SAN less challenging. “The technical support that we experienced was second to none—when we needed them they were there,” said Wachtman. “After experiencing this high level of service, I would tell anyone that there is no reason to buy any other competitive storage solution.”

“For organizations and institutions, like the City of Napoleon, StorTrends offers a multitude of configurations in all-flash, hybrid flash and spinning disk arrays to meet the requirements and budgets of all IT environments,” said Justin Bagby, Director of the StorTrends Division at American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI). “IT professionals that are interested in a price quote on the StorTrends SAN Arrays should check out our online Price Quote Generator for a hassle-free price quote.”
