AMI Announces Support for Generic Linux Architecture for AARCH64

Normally, the ARM world is restricted to deploying a specific ARM Linux for their specific SoC. This can cause problems at the end customer site because they may want to reinstall or switch to a different Linux distribution in the field. AMI has worked with both the Linux community to provide AMI’s UEFI firmware in a more compatible manner. AMI has worked with several distributions such as CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

In adding generic Linux support, AMI gives ARM hardware developers the ability to build modern and versatile platforms. AMI has worked extensively on ACPI porting to enable support of a generic Linux AARCH64 distribution installation disc. With this ability, ARM developers or consumers can install generic source code and custom build their operating systems based on the specifications needed for their respective platforms to create high performing, low-cost solutions sought by their customers.
