NORCROSS, GEORGIA - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), developer and owner of the StorTrends line of SAN & NAS data storage solutions, is joining analysts from the Taneja Group on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 to present findings on the “state of tiered storage” in the U.S. market.
This presentation, delivered in a live webinar from 2pm to 3pm Eastern time, is particularly relevant as more and more small and medium sized businesses look to adopt best practices and data storage capabilities now common amongst their enterprise peers.
During the live webinar, Taneja Group Sr. Storage Analyst Jeff Boles will review recent Taneja Group research on tiered storage, focusing on the importance of auto tiering to businesses and organizations in the SMB and small-to-medium enterprise space.
Mr. Boles’ recommendations and insights are based on more than 20 years of experience in storage. He notes that “more and more, I’m seeing automated tiered storage at the top of priority lists for small and medium businesses, particularly those that have gone fully or partially virtual in terms of their IT infrastructure. Auto tiering isn’t just for large public companies anymore. It’s gaining a lot of traction in SMB/SME space. I think it’s important for organizations to understand why.”
Directly following his perspective on tiered storage trends, Mr. Boles will review the results of his recently completed lab validation of the StorTrends 3400i Dual Controller iSCSI SAN – an array that’s featured true auto tiering functionality since 2007.
Mr. Boles comments: “StorTrends may not have the name recognition of some of the larger storage vendors, but they definitely have the technology. It’s a very interesting value proposition. The parent company, AMI, developed RAID cards in 1994 that became the market standard. They also own the largest market share in BIOS through the AMIBIOS product line. That deep engineering history can be seen in StorTrends, where AMI has applied their expertise to auto-tiering, and taken that technology to a level seldom seen in mid-range products, with a combination of both ideal tier placement and optimized placement of data on each individual disk. In turn, they are helping customers optimize performance across mixed workloads, increase total storage efficiency, and realize exceptional value from one of the most cost-effective storage solutions on the market.”
AMI and Taneja welcome interested parties to join them for the webinar on the 31st. For more information, please visit www.stortrends.com/webinar.
