NORCROSS, GA - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a leader in BIOS, remote management and network data storage innovations, announces with great sadness the sudden passing of a long-standing contributor and colleague at AMI, visionary leader and technologist, Mr. Paresh Chatterjee. Mr. Chatterjee was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of American Megatrends and guided the development of some of the company’s most successful and innovative products.
First and foremost, Mr. Chatterjee was the technology brain behind the ubiquitous MegaRAID® controller which gave AMI much success and acclaim. Thanks to Mr. Chatterjee’s expertise in RAID, AMI quickly ascended to become the world's largest third party RAID vendor with MegaRAID, eventually selling its MegaRAID Division to LSI Corporation in 2001. In 2002, so that AMI could focus on expanding its lineup of NAS and IP-SAN solutions, AMI launched the StorTrends® Product Division. Mr. Chatterjee took technological stewardship of the division in 2004.
From his R&D facility in Fremont, California, Mr. Chatterjee oversaw a hand-picked development team, guiding them intimately on a day-to-day basis in his trademark hands-on style. Under his guidance, AMI made steady progress in establishing itself in the storage market, gaining satisfied customers in industry, government and education in all corners of the globe. Most importantly, Mr. Chatterjee left a strong legacy of innovation to AMI, amassing over 60 patents in storage and data backup technology during his tenure as leader of the StorTrends development team.
S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends noted that "Mr. Chatterjee’s contribution to AMI and the technology industry as a whole cannot be overstated. His passing comes as a great shock and he will be sorely missed by me and the entire staff. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time. On behalf of the entire staff of AMI, I can say that we are dedicated to honoring Paresh’s legacy of innovation and technology leadership by redoubling our efforts to produce innovative and elegant technology products and solutions. This will be a fitting tribute to his visionary spirit and all the knowledge and experience he shared with us over his many years at AMI. I will sorely miss a good personal friend of over 30 years."
