ATLANTA, GEORGIA - American Megatrends is pleased to announce that its Aptio®4.x UEFI and AMIBIOS 8 firmware solutions support embedded platforms using the Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9400 with the Intel® Q45 Express chipset or the Intel® 3210 chipset.
"As Intel continues to offer more innovative embedded solutions, Aptio and AMIBIOS8 continue to show strength in this ever expanding market," said S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends. "Intel’s delivery of a quad-core solution to the embedded and communications market enables American Megatrends to provide our BIOS and UEFI solutions to a new class of customer."
The Intel Q45 Express chipset adds Intel Active Management Technology 5.0 (Intel® AMT 5.0), the latest graphics core and the data protection of Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® TXT) to the 45nm Intel Core2 Quad processor Q9400 platform. This platform is ideal for hospitality, gaming, digital imaging and signage applications that require high quality graphics, intensive processing power and network manageability.
Platforms using the Intel Core2 Quad processor Q9400 with the Intel 3210 chipset combine higher I/O performance and Error Correcting Code (ECC) memory with the multi-threaded 45nm processor. This platform combination is ideal for customers who need server-class memory performance in an embedded server, storage or security application.
"Two Intel® chipsets and the quad-core processor Q9400 are now supported for a 7-year life cycle for our embedded customers," said Ryan Parker, director of marketing, Embedded Computing Division, Intel. "These platforms enable American Megatrends’ customers to create a wide variety of high performance embedded systems with UEFI and BIOS solutions."
AMIBIOS8 is built around Visual eBIOS (VeB), the innovative development environment designed specifically for BIOS porting. VeB was released with the original AMIBIOS8 in 2001 and continues to simplify BIOS development worldwide by removing barriers normally associated with BIOS development in the command line environment. Aptio builds on that experience, providing next-generation BIOS firmware based on Unified EFI (UEFI) and the Intel® Platform Innovation Framework for EFI.
AMI will showcase a number of new products at the Intel Developer Forum in Taipei, Taiwan (October 20-21, 2008). A variety of AMI solutions for Intel platforms will be on display at Taipei International Convention Center in booth A54.
