American Megatrends Announces Aptio®4.x and AMIBIOS®8 Support for the 45nm Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9400 for Embedded and Communications Applications

Tuesday: July 15, 2008

Editorial Summary:

  • AMI provides UEFI for Intel® Core™2 Duo T9400 for embedded & communications applications
  • AMIBIOS & UEFI solutions are validated on 2 embedded platforms on the Intel® Core™2 Duo T9400:
    • Intel® Core™2 Duo T9400 with the Mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset
    • Intel® Core™2 Duo T9400 with the Intel® 5100 Memory Controller Hub chipset

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – American Megatrends is pleased to announce that its Aptio®4.x UEFI solution supports the new 45nm Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T9400 in two newly released platforms for Intels embedded customers. Both Aptio 4.x and AMIBIOS8 support the new energy efficient 45nm processor.

"AMI continues to support Intel platforms for embedded and communications as they bring new value and innovation to the sector," said S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends.

The Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T9400 is validated for embedded & communications applications with two Intel chipsets:

  • The Mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset, providing excellent integrated graphics performance, storage speed and reliability
  • The Intel® 5100 Memory Controller Hub chipset, combined with the Intel® 82801IR I/O Controller Hub 9R (ICH9R) for single processor blade applications requiring compelling performance-per-watt advantages

"AMI's flexible firmware solutions complement Intel's embedded and communications platforms," said Joe Jensen, general manager, Intel Embedded Computing Division. "The modular design of AMIBIOS8 and Aptio 4.x allow Intel to quickly enable new technology in customer reference designs."

AMIBIOS8 is built around Visual eBIOS (VeB), the innovative development environment designed specifically for BIOS porting. VeB was released with the original AMIBIOS8 in 2001 and continues to simplify BIOS development worldwide by removing barriers normally associated with BIOS development in the command line environment. Aptio builds on that experience, providing next- generation BIOS firmware based on Unified EFI (UEFI) and the Intel Platform Innovation Framework for EFI.

As a result of AMI's close cooperation with the Intel Embedded and Communications Group (ECG) and Intel Mobile Group (MG) in the development stages of these platforms, Intel Customer Reference Boards (CRB) feature AMIBIOS8 and Aptio 4.x BIOS firmware solutions.

Interested parties should contact Intel for more information about reference boards featuring the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T9400 and AMI firmware solutions for mobile and embedded applications.
