ATLANTA, GEORGIA - American Megatrends is pleased to announce that its AMIBIOS®8 & Aptio®4.x products feature support for the new Intel® System Controller Hub (SCH) US15W and the Intel® Atom™ Processor Z500 Series.
The Intel® SCH US15W is the basis for low-power Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC), Mobile Internet Device (MID) platforms and unique embedded computer designs. This SCH was designed by Intel from the ground-up and is a single-chip solution with integrated graphics that brings functionality associated with handheld devices, such as SDIO/MMC and USB 2.0 interfaces, to Microsoft Windows® and Linux operating systems.
AMIBIOS8 & Aptio 4.x also support the Intel® Atom™ processor Z500 series which is based on a new Intel micro architecture and 45nm Hi-K process technology, and offers significant improvements in power consumption compared to ULV single-core Intel® processors.
S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends, offered this comment: "As a long-standing member of the Intel Embedded & Communications Alliance, we are especially proud of the fact that the Intel Embedded Computing Group uses AMIBIOS8 and Aptio 4.x for their official reference BIOS. This highlights AMI's commitment to be a market leader in the embedded computing space and the capability of our AMIBIOS and Aptio offerings to meet the most rigorous, cutting edge demands of this rapidly growing market segment."
"AMI's years of experience with embedded BIOS compliment Intel's innovative designs for low-power small form factor components," said Jonathan Luse, Director of Marketing for Intel's Low Power Embedded Products Division.
AMIBIOS8 is built around Visual eBIOS (VeB), the innovative development environment designed specifically for BIOS porting. VeB was released with the original AMIBIOS8 in 2001 and continues to simplify BIOS development worldwide by removing barriers normally associated with BIOS development in the command line environment. Aptio builds on that experience, providing next- generation BIOS firmware based on Unified EFI (UEFI) and the Intel® Platform Innovation Framework for EFI.
AMIBIOS8 & Aptio 4.x evaluation BIOS for Intel Customer Reference Boards (CRB) are available now. Interested parties are encouraged to contact AMI's Software Sales Department at 1-800-U-BUY-AMI for more details.
