ATLANTA, GEORGIA - American Megatrends (AMI), a leader in storage and computing innovations, will showcase its Aptio® firmware on stable, shipping notebooks in booth A7 at the Intel® Development Forum Taipei, which will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center on October 15-16, 2007.
American Megatrends will showcase next-generation notebooks shipping from MSI and featuring Aptio® firmware, an innovative solution based on the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Specification and the Intel® Platform Innovation Framework for EFI. Aptio solutions are positioned beyond legacy BIOS as a firmware solution that is extensible, portable and entirely modular. Aptio can be easily re-utilized on a number of new hardware platforms by substituting the appropriate drivers, and can easily integrate third-party drivers to accommodate new components.
AMI will also demonstrate its ROM Diagnostics, including a preview of ROM Diagnostics for UEFI. A pioneer in the field of EFI, AMI developed the first diagnostic for EFI more than five years ago and continues to develop and market tailored pre-boot EFI applications for major OEMs. Additionally, AMI India, a Certified Windows® CE developer of embedded drivers and applications based on Windows CE, will demonstrate its latest developments on an Intel® Xscale® PXA platform.
"AMI is excited to present our latest developments at the Intel Developer Forum, a yearly must-see event for engineers and professionals who wish to be up-to-speed with the most advanced ideas and solutions in the computer industry," said C.T. Wang, General Manager of AMI Taiwan. "AMI’s participation has special significance this year, as our Aptio® system software has moved from the space of technology innovation and prototype into mainstream production with fully stable and reliable platforms."
AMI is actively collaborating with Intel® and other silicon manufacturers to offer Aptio and AMIBIOS®8 drivers and modules supporting the major chipsets and roadmap technologies, including the most advanced security, management and power management features.
Both Aptio and AMIBIOS8 support multiple Ultra-Mobile PC platforms. AMI’s modular approach provides the opportunity to create unique OEM/ODM Ultra-Mobile solutions that integrate modules typically utilized by mobile or embedded platforms.
