American Megatrends announces MegaRAC® SP Service Processor Software Support for the Vitesse VSC452 BMC

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – American Megatrends, a leader in storage and computing innovations, today announced support of the MegaRAC SP Service Processor firmware stack for the Vitesse VSC452, a highly-integrated Baseboard Management Controller (BMC).
MegaRAC SP Service Processor stack provides advanced system management features for the Vitesse VSC452 BMC, an integrated device that performs many functions previously handled through separate devices such as the baseboard management controller, VGA processor, KVM card (Keyboard, Video and Mouse), Super I/O chip and network interface card.

The Vitesse VSC452 BMC incorporates the AMI AAVICA (Advanced Adaptive Video Compression Algorithm) compression and redirection KVM engine, offering high-speed video redirection over very low bandwidth pipes, such as two-wire serial-based side-band connection. AAVICA-2 reduces latency issues using AMI’s patent-pending compression algorithm. The ‘single-phase’ fast technique for capture, change detection and compression allows AAVICA to achieve 35 complete frames per second.
This enhances user experience, eliminating annoyances when viewing only partial screens or "screen holes", and obtains smooth mouse movements. Depending on the network link bandwidth availability, AAVICA can adapt the frame size to be restricted to the allowed bandwidth specified by the user and simultaneously optimize packet transmissions to overcome network latencies.
