Intel® Developer Forum, Beijing, China – American Megatrends, a leader in computing innovations, today announced its participation to Intel Developer Forum China to showcase Aptio, its EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) firmware solution, providing an advanced and stable firmware platform for OEM innovations.
AMI Aptio provides a complete firmware solution compliant with the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) 2.0 specification, which details a new model for the interface between operating system and platform firmware. Aptio also implements the Intel® Platform Innovation Framework for EFI, being compliant with the entire set of related specifications. UEFI and the Framework are designed to accelerate the introduction of innovative hardware platforms by providing a clean, modular interface between OS and platform at boot that can easily integrate firmware drivers activating new, advanced hardware components.
AMI Aptio is the fruit of many years of development and testing realized in close cooperation with Intel and other processor and chipset manufacturers, as well as the industry standard bodies. AMI is among the promoters of the UEFI Forum, the industry organization that drives the evolution of the EFI specification, originally introduced by Intel.
" As an early adopter of EFI and the Framework, AMI has worked with Intel for years to develop next-generation firmware solutions, " said Yosi Govezensky, Intel’s Marketing Manager for EFI and the Framework. " Together with Intel and all other UEFI promoters, AMI paves the way for the upcoming industry transition to a new firmware model that enables faster development of innovative platforms. "
OEMs can confidently build their IP innovations on Aptio, that offers a stable EFI firmware platform based on the PEI and DXE core from the Intel® Platform Innovation Framework for EFI (the Framework). AMI experience and vision created a software platform with enhanced portability ease of use and extensibility. Aptio can easily integrate third-vendor drivers and software components.
The Aptio product line includes a wealth of development tools that facilitate all phases of computer systems lifecycle, from design to manufacturing and support:
- Visual eBIOS (VeB) graphical development environment eases and speeds up the design phase, providing an array of wizards for project management;
- AMI Debug for EFI provides a graphical interface to debug EFI firmware and applications;
Tools for firmware customization, such as AMIBCP, Changelogo and MMTools;
- Tools for Manufacturing, including EFI diagnostics and AMI Flash utilities for DOS, FreeBSD, Linux and Microsoft Windows.
Aptio has bees extensively tested and is available for recent and upcoming Intel chipsets, as well as on chipsets from AMD/ATI, NVIDIA, VIA and SiS. The firmware supports the latest technologies, such as x64 for Vista Longhorn, TCG/TSS security, Intel® SpeedStep® Technology and Intel® Enhanced SpeedStep® Technology, Intel® Active Management Technology, AMD PowerNow™ and Cool ‘n Quiet™.
Aptio technological prowess is testified by the fact that leading OEMS have selected it to power their reference platforms.
AMI is at the forefront of new technologies, thanks to participation in leading industry consortia and constant cooperation with industry leaders and tier 1 OEMs. The company offers a unique blend of competence in the fields of BIOS platform firmware and system management, two vital system components that will be more and more intersecting as we go into the future.
