American Megatrends Supports IOG Community Youth Vocational Center

Monday: January 22, 2007

Editorial Summary:

  • IOG, a not for profit organization, provides high tech vocational training to young people and single parents to increase their chances of employment

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – American Megatrends continuing relationship with the IOG Community Youth Vocational Center has supplied numerous computers and monitors that would help raise funds for its summer programs.

The IOG Community Youth Vocational Center, located in Stone Mountain, GA has become a great resource for training young people on computer systems and high technology in an effort to prepare them for jobs that require computer knowledge.

In addition the IOG Youth Vocational Center also instructs young adults in the industry of film and video production with its help from Comcast Community Services. All this is done through the donations of companies like AMI.

American Megatrends has been a sponsor of the IOG for several years with donations of used computer equipment and office furniture. Items that cannot be salvaged or repaired are sold to raise money for its summer programs.

"If it weren’t for companies like American Megatrends we would not be able to continue. They have supplied most of our computer equipment," said William Gary, a Founder and Chairman of the group’s board. "We depend solely on donations of equipment, money and the time people can spare to help."

According to John Williams, an MIS specialist at AMI, whom has been working with IOG Community Center for a number of years. "The organization has grown to a level where a visible track record of success, resulting in a large percentage of their students graduate from high school, go on to college and/or obtained above minimum wage jobs."

Their mission is to inspire and empower disadvantaged youth, by training them in vocational skills to include Computer Technology and Television Media. They offer Apprenticeships and Mentoring Programs that will help shape their future and careers. They also provide computers to less fortunate families at a reasonable price who would otherwise not be able to afford one.

The IOG Community Youth Vocational Center should be fully funded, and cloned to prepare our young adults for responsibility which is the foundation of adulthood. As founders, William and Hope Gary have given back to the community in tremendous ways. However, their efforts come only by the donations of equipment and funds from other members of the community.
