SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a leading provider of computer technologies, announced today it will demonstrate StorTrends NXS, NAS software, powered by the Intel XScale technology based reference design, at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF). IDF Spring 2005 takes place March 1-3 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California at booth no. 106 within the Storage Community.
StorTrends NXS is Linux-based software that merges file-based data onto a storage appliance with robust features and manageability, targeting SOHO and SMB markets. Setup is quite simple via an easy web-based management interface that enables the administrator to monitor health variables and control key system parameters such as NAS file share and security configurations. StorTrends NXS implements a NAS file server supporting heterogeneous protocols (CIFS, NFS, AFP, HTTP and FTP). Key features are Enhanced Active Directory Services (eADS), Access Control List (ACL) support, multiple language support, NIC teaming, network client support and Network Information Service (NIS).
StorTrends NXS offers consolidated storage management with the look and ease of Explorer, and an active dashboard with graphical component management. AMI also provides OEM customers with customization tools.
"StorTrends NXS is a great addition to AMI’s family of networked storage products," stated Paresh Chatterjee, Chief Technology Officer. "AMI is pleased to have the opportunity to continue to expand its relationship with Intel by offering StorTrends NXS (NAS) and StorTrends IXS (Dual dialect IP-SAN/NAS) software powered by Intel XScale Technology. AMI will be presenting "AMI Storage Powered by Intel XScale Technology" at the Theatre located within the Storage Community on Wednesday, March 2nd.
In addition to StorTrends NXS, AMI will be demonstrating our pre-release version of StorTrends IXS, IP-SAN/NAS software powered by the Intel XScale technology reference design. StorTrends IXS is a dual dialect version of software that offers support for both IP-SAN and NAS.
AMI will also be presenting "Graphical Applications for EFI & the Framework" at IDF on Wednesday, March 2nd. The presentation demonstrates how AMI has used the Framework to simplify pre-OS graphics development, including graphical setup applications and UNICODE language support. Brian Richardson, Technical Evangelist for AMI, will be speaking on the topic and has presented at several past IDF engagements.
